Born in Southern California, Page finds musical and lyrical release after dreaming of an ideal life with an ex- which, despite seeming to be perfect, is colored by the imagery of a funeral – a sign of the relationship’s death. “It was like a rom-com montage; it was very sweet, us living in an apartment years later, painting and putting up the wallpaper ourselves,” says Page.
I woke up feeling super startled and confused and had the whole thing in my head. The friend I was bunking with has a loft bed and has a Wurlitzer beneath it – so I got off the air mattress and wrote the first verse and the first chorus on that as quietly as I could so as not to wake the friend up.
