Roxy Gordon – “An Open Letter To Illegal Aliens”

Paradise of Bachelors is set to reissue Roxy Gordon’s 1988 album Crazy Horse Never Died on May 12th. I have to admit, I wasn’t familiar with the late Choctaw, Assiniboine, and Texan poet, journalist, artist, activist, and musician Roxy Gordon (also known as First Coyote Boy), who passed away in 2000. But after learning about his remarkable life and the admiration he earned from icons like Townes Van Zandt and Terry Allen, I was instantly intrigued.

Gordon’s music blends the storytelling of John Prine with the sharp commentary of John Trudell. His distinct twang adds a hint of humor to his raw and honest reflections on identity and history. The latest single takes a witty yet biting look at capitalism and colonialism, exposing the absurdity of both while questioning society’s enduring flaws. Give it a listen—you’ll walk away with fresh insight.
