The Rills – Skint Eastwood

Hailing from Lincoln but with as many inspirations as one can imagine across the entirety of the United Kingdom – from Sheffield’s Arctic Monkeys to London’s The Libertines – The Rills are not lacking for shoes to fill. Formed by vocalist Mitch Spencer and bassist Callum Warner-Webb, the trio, as they are now, were forged on a trip to London where they met drummer Mason Cassar.

“It is almost impossible to do music or anything out of the ordinary in a place like Lincoln because there are no structures or industries there,” says Spencer. “There were never any gigs, and the ones that were there were massive, so you go from pub gigs with cover bands to seeing the Kaiser Chiefs. There were no young bands, so we knew if we were gonna build anything, we had to leave.”

It is their first song to be released through Nice Swan Records, which in the past was home to Sports Team, FEET, English Teacher and other indie outsiders, so it only makes sense that the song starts as if it is a landmark for the band.
